Manus layoff staff in China and Relocates Headquarters to Singapore

In a significant strategic shift, General AI Agent company Manus, primarily operating as “Beijing Butterfly Effect Technology Co., Ltd.,” has recently carried out staff reductions in its domestic operations in China. Simultaneously, the firm has relocated its headquarters to Singapore, as disclosed by multiple sources on social media platforms.

According to these sources, Manus, which was initially headquartered in China, has reduced its Chinese – based workforce. Currently, the company has approximately 120 employees in the Chinese region. After the restructuring, more than 40 core technical personnel have been transferred to the newly established Singaporean headquarters, while the remaining employees have faced redundancy. The company is reported to be providing severance packages of either N + 3 or 2N to the affected employees.

This move comes not long after Manus made waves in the global AI Agent market earlier this year. The company’s sudden decision to downsize its Chinese operations and relocate has raised eyebrows within the industry. In mid – June, Manus’ product director, Zhang Tao, publicly announced the company’s relocation of its headquarters from China to Singapore.

Manus has responded to the rumors of large – scale layoffs, stating, “Based on considerations of our own operational efficiency, we have decided to restructure some of our business teams. The company will continue to focus on the development of its core business and enhance overall operational efficiency.” The company emphasized that this adjustment is part of its strategic plan to better allocate resources and adapt to market changes.

Industry insiders speculate that this strategic adjustment by Manus may be related to the evolving international technological investment and cooperation landscape. As an application – layer product, Manus relies on multiple large – scale models. The relocation to Singapore could potentially help the company circumvent certain technological restrictions and gain access to international resources, thus maintaining its competitiveness in the global AI market.

The news of Manus’ staff reductions and relocation has sparked discussions among AI industry observers. It also serves as a reminder of the dynamic and ever – changing nature of the global technology sector, where companies often need to make bold strategic moves to stay ahead in the highly competitive AI market.
