Huawei’s consumer boss He Gang posted real camera samples from the company’s first camera-equipped smart glasses on April 8. The photos blew up across Chinese tech media overnight. The hardware drops April 21 alongside the Pura 90 phone line.
The Hardware
AI smart glasses. Aerospace-grade titanium alloy frame, roughly 30g. Built-in camera for first-person photo and video capture — a first for Huawei eyewear. Three high-density lithium batteries pushing approximately 11 hours of continuous use, even with real-time AI translation running. For context, Meta Ray-Ban gets about 4 hours. Xiaoyi AI assistant handles simultaneous translation, navigation, and object recognition through voice. Three colorways: Luminous Silver, Titanium Silver Gray, Modern Black.
The Developer Angle
Runs HarmonyOS, which means full ecosystem sync with Huawei phones, tablets, and PCs — photos taken on the glasses push to your paired phone in real time. More interesting for builders: the HarmonyOS SDK lets third-party developers tap into the camera feed, sensor data, and Xiaoyi’s voice interface. Think custom translation overlays, accessibility tools, or field-inspection workflows piped through the glasses. Meta doesn’t sell Ray-Ban in China. Huawei doesn’t need to compete there — it owns the home market.
