165 cm tall, 60 kg, wheeled base, 34 degrees of freedom, 22 sensors, 15 kg payload. Hexagon Robotics AEON is an industrial humanoid robot that just became the first of its kind deployed in a European car factory.
What It Does at BMW
BMW started testing AEON in Leipzig in December 2025. Phase two kicked off April 2026, with full pilot this summer. The job: high-voltage battery assembly and parts manufacturing. BMW already ran Figure 02 at Spartanburg for 10 months — 30,000 X3s, 90,000 components moved, 1,250 operating hours. AEON is the European expansion of that playbook.
The hardware runs NVIDIA Jetson Orin onboard, packs 12 cameras plus LiDAR, depth, IR, force/torque sensors, and microphones. Hot-swappable lithium batteries keep it running in 4-hour shifts around the clock. The imitation learning system needs only 20 demonstrations to train a new task autonomously.
The Developer Stack
This is where it gets interesting for builders. AEON runs on NVIDIA’s full robotics pipeline — Isaac Sim for simulation, Isaac Lab for reinforcement learning, GR00T N1.5 foundation model for post-training, and Omniverse for digital twin validation. Hexagon’s team went from zero to production-ready locomotion in 2-3 weeks using this stack, versus the typical 5-6 months. Industrial customers can integrate through NVIDIA Isaac SDK and JetPack SDK for task orchestration and remote monitoring. The platform is upgrading to NVIDIA IGX Thor for functional safety compliance. Language instructions and imitation learning interfaces mean you can program new behaviors without traditional robotics expertise.
No public pricing — enterprise pilot partnerships only, with BMW, Schaeffler, and Pilatus Aircraft as current customers.
