Razer AVA: A 5.5-Inch Holographic AI Companion That Watches Your Screen and Books Your Calendar

Razer took the wraps off Project AVA at CES 2026 — a cylindrical desktop device that projects a 3D holographic character onto a swappable 5.5-inch display. Not a screen widget, not a chatbot window. An actual animated figure with eye tracking and facial expressions sitting on your desk, listening through dual far-field mics and watching through an HD camera with ambient light sensors. Chroma RGB underneath, because it’s Razer.

The AI runs on xAI’s Grok engine. Plug it into your PC via USB-C, and AVA’s “PC Vision Mode” reads your screen content in real time — low latency, high bandwidth. It manages your schedule, assists with work tasks, and doubles as a gaming coach that reacts to what’s happening on screen.

GDC 2026: From Chatbot to Agent

At GDC 2026 in March, Razer showed the real upgrade: agentic capabilities. AVA now interprets intent, breaks goals into multi-step plans, and executes across connected tools. The wildest demo? Companion-to-Companion Coordination — two AVA units talking to each other to propose meeting times, check calendars, and confirm schedules without human intervention.

Inference Control Plane — The API Layer

Under the hood sits Razer’s Inference Control Plane, which dynamically routes requests between local and cloud AI models. Currently locked to Grok, but Razer confirmed multi-platform AI support is coming. The agentic layer connects to calendars, work tools, and game APIs for automated workflows. Developer API details are still pending formal release, but the architecture is built for third-party integration. Beta sign-ups are live on Razer Cortex, with early access rolling out Q2 2026.

$20 refundable deposit reserves one now. Shipping H2 2026. No final price yet. If you’re tracking AI hardware that developers can actually build on, this is the consumer side of that same trend — hardware with an agent brain and an API waiting to be opened.
