Orange Pi 6 Plus: A $199 Single-Board Computer With 45 TOPS and 64GB RAM

A Raspberry Pi competitor just showed up with laptop-class specs. 12 CPU cores, 45 TOPS of AI compute, up to 64GB LPDDR5, and dual NVMe SSD slots — on a single board for $199.

30 TOPS NPU on a 6nm SBC

The Orange Pi 6 Plus runs the CIX P1 (CD8180) SoC — 12-core Armv9.2 with a tri-cluster layout: 4x Cortex-A720 at 2.6GHz, 4x A720 at 2.4GHz, 4x A520 at 1.8GHz. The NPU alone delivers 30 TOPS across INT4/8/16, FP16, and TF32. Combined CPU+GPU+NPU hits 45 TOPS — the same ballpark as AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Single-core CPU performance matches an i5-10500. The 16GB version starts at $199, 32GB at $249.

The board hit Hacker News with 137 points and 96 comments after Tao of Mac published a detailed review. Multiple outlets — NotebookCheck, Boiling Steam, Android Pimp — ran benchmarks the same week.

CIX NOE SDK: Edge AI With an Actual Toolchain

This is a fully programmable Linux SBC, not a locked-down appliance. CIX ships the Neural One (NOE) SDK with an NPU compiler, model quantization tools, and an AI Model Hub with pre-converted models. Feed it ONNX or TensorFlow Lite models, compile to CIX format, and run inference on the NPU directly. Supports Debian, Ubuntu, Android, Windows, and ROS2.

For AI agents, this board is SSH-able, API-able, and has 40-pin GPIO plus dual USB 3.0 and PCIe Gen4 for peripherals. Run a local LLM, pipe camera feeds through vision models, or use it as a $199 edge inference node that an agent can remote-control. The 64GB RAM option means you can load models that would choke any other SBC on the market.

One caveat from the Hacker News crowd: the software side — boot chains, GPU blobs, vendor kernel — is still rough. Hardware is ahead of the ecosystem. But at this price-to-TOPS ratio, nothing else comes close.
