On May 11, Anthropic and AWS made it official — the full native Claude Platform now ships through your existing AWS account in 18 regions on day one. This isn’t Bedrock with a new skin. It’s a different deal entirely.
Not Bedrock — and that’s the whole point
Bedrock runs Claude inside the AWS data boundary, with AWS acting as the data processor. Claude Platform on AWS is operated by Anthropic itself; your traffic leaves the AWS security boundary. The trade-off is steep features for that boundary crossing — every native capability on day one: Opus 4.7, Sonnet 4.6, Haiku 4.5, Managed Agents, Agent Skills, code execution, web search, Files API, prompt caching, batch, citations. All behind AWS IAM, all on your existing AWS invoice. No new contract, no second procurement.
What you can actually call
Authentication piggybacks on IAM. The Messages API, MCP connector, and Skills are exposed natively, so anything you’d build against api.anthropic.com works here unchanged. Use case that matters: regulated teams that wanted Anthropic’s beta surface but couldn’t justify a parallel vendor process.
Why the channel move matters
AWS is the first hyperscaler to host Anthropic’s native stack instead of just reselling the model. Read between the lines — Anthropic is renegotiating who owns the customer relationship, and Bedrock just got a sibling that quietly competes with it.
