xAI shipped Grok Bot into public beta on August 11. Not a chatbot, not a coding copilot — a squad of always-on agents, each with its own machine in the cloud, that log into your actual SaaS tools and keep working while you’re asleep.
What it actually does
The trick is the virtual computer. No API, no MCP connector, no integration to build. The agent opens the app the way you would, clicks through it, fills in the fields, and moves to the next step without waiting for a prompt. Context carries across tasks, agents hand work to each other, and you only get pinged when something needs a human sign-off. xAI’s own example: an outbound sales bot that researches accounts overnight, scores intent, drafts emails in each rep’s voice, and leaves a queue for approval by morning.
Why this one matters
Every agent launch for two years has been about writing code. This is the first big one aimed squarely at office work — the boring multi-step stuff nobody built an API for. It’s bundled into SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra ($200/mo solo) and Cursor Teams Premium ($120/seat), running on Cursor’s infrastructure rather than xAI’s. Desktop including a Linux build, plus iOS; Android later, enterprise on a waitlist. xAI says it started as an internal prototype and already changed how the team works — which is either the most honest endorsement in the release or the oldest line in the book.
