Installing OpenClaw used to mean fighting configs for an afternoon. AutoClaw by Z.ai compresses it to download, double-click, log in — and it’s trending on Product Hunt for exactly that reason. This is Zhipu’s official desktop client that packages the open-source OpenClaw agent framework into a macOS and Windows app, turning an ordinary PC into an always-on local agent.
What it actually does
It ships 50+ pre-built skills — code generation, Word/Excel/PPT automation, financial research — and uses AutoGLM Browser-Use to click through websites and system APIs like a human. It hooks into Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp and Lark, so the agent works where you chat. The default model is Pony-Alpha-2, a GLM-5 variant fine-tuned for agent work, with GLM-5.3 early access on paid tiers. New users get 26,000 credits (about $20).
The API angle
AutoClaw itself is a client, but the GLM models underneath have an open API — you can build your own agents on the same stack, from browser automation to document pipelines.
The real signal: a Chinese frontier lab productizing OpenClaw and grabbing the local-agent entry point before anyone else does.
