Salesforce launches Slack Code: Claude Code, Devin and GitHub Copilot move into your team channels

AI coding has been a solo terminal sport. Salesforce just made it a team sport. Slack Code, launched August 21, turns any coding task into a dedicated Slack channel where humans and AI agents build software together — in the open.

How it works

Tag a coding agent anywhere in Slack and it spins up a code channel: diffs, live previews, and a running plan sit in dedicated tabs. PMs and designers watch the agent work, steer it mid-task, and approve before anything ships. When the job’s done, the channel archives into a searchable audit trail. Four agents at launch: Claude Code, Devin, GitHub Copilot, and Vercel’s agent. Works on every Slack plan, free included — bring your own agent subscription.

Why it matters

This is the finished form of last December’s Claude Code in Slack preview, now opened to Anthropic’s biggest rivals. Slack’s bet: the bottleneck isn’t writing code anymore, it’s review and judgment — and channels handle that better than terminals. Devin’s team claims merged PRs up 10x with only 40% more headcount. For builders, the agent interfaces plus Slack’s platform API mean you can wire your own agent into the same channel workflow.
