Alibaba’s map app is now shipping robots. Amap, the division most people know as China’s Google Maps, is debuting its first embodied robot at the 2026 Beijing E-Town Half Marathon. Alibaba’s first real piece of hardware, and it’s a dog.
The brain is more interesting than the body. Amap spun up an embodied intelligence division in January, dropped two base models in February (ABot-M0 for manipulation, ABot-N0 for navigation), and now ABot-World has topped the AGIbot World Challenge and World Arena benchmarks, beating Google, NVIDIA and China’s top research labs.
Why this quadruped matters
ABot-N0 hit SOTA on seven navigation benchmarks: CityWalker, SocNav, R2R-CE, RxR-CE, HM3D-OVON, BridgeNav, EVT-Bench. Deployed on a Unitree Go2 it runs 2Hz VLA inference with 10Hz closed-loop control. ABot-M0 trained on 6 million open-source trajectories and is fully open-sourced on GitHub. One brain, many bodies. That’s the real pitch.
Dog first, humanoid later
The half-marathon debut is Alibaba’s opening move against Tesla Optimus and the rest of the Chinese humanoid pack. Quadruped is step one; humanoids are next on the roadmap. BABA moved on the news, which tells you the market read this as Alibaba finally showing up to the robot fight.
