Zoomlion is the Chinese company that builds cranes, concrete pumps, and excavators. On April 22, 2026, at Hannover Messe, they crashed the humanoid party — unveiling Z1, their first mass-production humanoid body, and Robot Ops, a Software 3.0 platform that bundles DevOps, DataOps, and AgentOps into one stack. The live demo: a wheeled humanoid and an AMR jointly sorting packages while Z1 ran dynamic balance and dance routines. PR Newswire, Yahoo Finance, Morningstar, and The Globe and Mail all picked it up the same day.
The hardware
Z1 is a bipedal humanoid ready for volume production — Zoomlion’s first. Alongside it they showed an industrial wheeled humanoid — same software stack, different body — aimed at warehouse and logistics duty. Both are real SKUs demonstrated live on the Hannover floor, not renders.
The API
Robot Ops exposes three layers — data, software, agent. Think ROS2 plus an agent-orchestration layer on top. External AI agents can dispatch logistics sorting, assembly, or inspection jobs to Z1 or the wheeled unit, push OTA algorithm updates, and read back sensor streams. One platform, many robot bodies, agents as the new programmer. That’s the bet.
