Anthropic didn’t drop Claude Opus 4.7 with a blog post. The new flagship model went to a closed-door bank briefing in New York on May 5, alongside a Moody’s data pipe and full Microsoft 365 integration. The message: this model is built for whoever pays the most.
The numbers back it up. 64.4% on Vals AI’s Finance Agent — top of the table. 87.6% on SWE-bench Verified. 70% on CursorBench, up from 58% on Opus 4.6. SWE-bench Pro jumped from 53.4% to 64.3%.
Why finance got it first
Roughly 40% of Anthropic’s top 50 enterprise clients are banks — JPMorgan, Goldman, Citi, Visa already in production. So they shipped ten ready-to-run agents (pitchbook, KYC, month-end close, valuation review) and pulled Moody’s data inside Claude. The bank software stack is being rewritten under everyone’s feet.
API and Claude Code
Available now on the Anthropic API as claude-opus-4-7, and on Amazon Bedrock. Pricing flat at $5/$25 per million tokens, same as Opus 4.6. No long-context premium — the full 1M window at standard price. Claude Code’s 1M tier runs on this model now, with a new /ultrareview command and an xhigh reasoning level slotted between high and max.
If you’re shipping agents that plan for hours without losing the thread, this is the one to test.
