Anthropic and OpenAI sell their enterprise AI workspaces. Cloudflare just gave its own away. Cloudflare OS — the internal AI platform thousands of its employees have used daily since May for research, docs, and automation — is now on GitHub under Apache 2.0. The launch hit 218 points on HackerNews, closing out Agents Week 2026.
What it actually is
An agent workspace in your browser, in three parts: agents grounded in your company’s curated context and skills, with an isolated runtime where they write and execute code; a “Gatekeeper” governance layer that controls what agents can touch when they reach internal data; and a personal apps platform — ask for a slide deck and it spins up a private instance of slide software just for you (they call these “gadgets”).
Built to be forked
Everything runs on Cloudflare Workers, with new primitives (Dynamic Workers, Durable Object Facets) plus MCP for connecting tools. Deploy it on your own Cloudflare account, point it at your AI Gateway, wire in your integrations — you get what Claude Cowork sells as a subscription, except you own it. The bet: enterprise AI workspaces become commodity, and they all end up running on Cloudflare’s edge.
