Thomas Dohmke left GitHub in August 2025. Six months later he’s back with Entire — $60M seed at a $300M valuation, the largest dev-tool seed on record. Felicis led, with Madrona, M12, Basis Set, Jerry Yang, and Datadog’s Olivier Pomel piling in.
What Entire actually is
A new dev platform built around one thesis: Git was designed for humans typing in IDEs, not fleets of agents shipping commits at machine speed. Entire wants to be the collaboration layer underneath that — a Git that knows what an agent was thinking when it pushed, not just what bytes changed.
Checkpoints, the first product
Checkpoints is the open-source CLI Entire is leading with. Every agent-generated commit gets paired with a structured record: prompt, transcript, file diffs, token usage, tool calls — all stored as Git metadata. That means a second agent can pick up where the first left off without re-deriving context, and a human can audit an agent contribution graph instead of squinting at diff blame.
Day-one support for Claude Code and Gemini CLI. Cursor adapter is on the roadmap.
The interesting bet isn’t the tool itself — it’s that whoever owns the agent-native version-control layer owns the next GitHub. Dohmke, of all people, knows what that’s worth.
