Hoplite (YC S26) moves your local coding agent setup to the cloud — and takes orders from iMessage

Two Irish college dropouts — ex-Stripe and ex-AWS — launched Hoplite out of YC S26 with a blunt pitch: cloud coding agents are useless if they don’t have your environment. Hoplite is a deployment layer that clones your local setup — Claude Code and Codex sessions, MCP servers, dependencies, CLI configs — into cloud sandboxes, so agents run with the exact context you have on your laptop.

Agents that take orders from iMessage

The trigger layer is the memorable part. Fire off tasks from Slack, Linear, or literally iMessage — or skip humans entirely: a Sentry error auto-triggers an agent that opens a PR. Their first enterprise customer says Sentry logs went from ignored to producing proactive PRs, with low-priority tickets fixed and merged continuously.

Why the launch hit 71 points on day one

Launch HN: 71 points, 58 comments. The skepticism is fair — “move your local env to the cloud” is exactly the hard part everyone else punted on. But the bet is bigger: Hoplite thinks the best startups of the next decade will be the ones deploying trillions of tokens a day without output quality collapsing. Bottleneck is deployment, not models.
