holaOS hit 7,045 GitHub stars by putting Claude Code and Codex in the same window

+769 stars in a single day. holaOS is an open-source desktop app — Electron, TypeScript, Modified Apache 2.0, built by Holaboss and led by Jeffrey Li — that runs Claude Code, Codex and its own built-in agent side by side instead of in four separate terminals.

What it actually does

The problem it targets is dumb but real: developers now keep three or four agent CLIs open, and none of them know what the others did. holaOS gives them one workspace with shared memory stored as plain local files, plus shared tools, browser access and 100+ integrations (Gmail, Notion, Slack, GitHub, Linear) through MCP. Close the app, come back next week, the context is still there. Models are built in — Claude Opus 5, GPT 5.6, Kimi K3, GLM 5.2 — or bring your own keys.

Why it’s trending

Agent-harness consolidation is the hottest category in dev tooling right now, and Cowork and OpenWork are chasing the same idea. holaOS’s angle is memory: not a tab manager for agents, but one persistent state they all read from. The 0.1 beta landed May 12, 2026 and added a dashboard, sub-agents and multi-workspace isolation. Free to start, macOS first.
