ElevenLabs built its name on AI voices; now it is putting a face to them. The company has added Avatars to ElevenCreative, letting you generate talking-head videos that combine an AI voice with a customizable on-screen presenter in a single workflow.
## How Avatars works
An avatar is a persistent visual identity you build from reference images or a text prompt. Upload photos of a person, character, or even an animal, and ElevenCreative generates a base identity you can reuse across any number of videos. You can save and reference avatars across projects, and new batch generation in Flows targets high-volume content production rather than one-off clips.
## Why owning the voice layer matters
The technical edge here is integration. Because ElevenLabs owns the speech model, the voice and the lip-syncing model run in the same environment, producing tighter synchronization than pipelines that import audio from a separate tool. The first avatar model, Aurora, already powers video for Comcast, Alibaba, and brands on Creatify — a sign the lip-sync quality is aimed at enterprise content teams, not just demos.
