June 29: Claude went generally available in Microsoft Foundry on Azure. With AWS and Google Cloud already covered, Claude just became the first frontier model family you can buy on all three major clouds. Microsoft — OpenAI’s biggest backer — is now selling Anthropic’s models on its own platform. Read that twice.
What enterprises actually get
This is Claude as a first-class Azure service, not a marketplace wrapper. Your existing Azure subscription, identity controls, governance policies, and one consolidated invoice — Enterprise Agreement customers can even burn existing Azure commitments on Claude. Data stays in your chosen region (US data zone available), and prompts never train the base models. Underneath: NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 racks — 72 Blackwell Ultra GPUs per rack, InfiniBand-connected. This is the November 2025 Microsoft × NVIDIA × Anthropic deal landing, the one where Anthropic committed $30B in Azure compute.
The API side
Opus 4.8 and Haiku 4.5 run through the Foundry Messages API with prompt caching and extended thinking, billed via Azure. Typical use case: coding agents and long-running agentic workflows inside companies that could never route data to a startup’s endpoint — but already trust Azure.
