What airi actually is
airi (moeru-ai) is a self-hosted AI companion — a talking, watching waifu that lives on your own machine instead of someone’s cloud. It’s not a chatbot in a text box. It’s a Live2D/3D character that does realtime voice chat, sees your screen, and plays games alongside you (Minecraft and Factorio are the demo showcases). Think of a local Neuro-sama you fully own.
The key word is self-hosted. Conversations, memory, personality — everything stays in your ~/.airi/ folder. No telemetry goes back to moeru-ai. Plug in a local model via Ollama and it never touches the internet at all. It also speaks OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, and 40+ other providers if you want the smart cloud brains.
