Meta’s first true autonomous consumer agent is weeks away. Internally dubbed Hatch, it’s a consumer version of OpenClaw — the agent tool OpenAI snapped up in February after Meta’s own acquisition bid failed. Expect a waitlist launch in late August or September, with a premium tier at $199.99/month, matching ChatGPT Pro.
What it actually does
Hatch is an always-on agent with its own computer. You describe the task — book a restaurant, buy something, fill out forms, run research — and it operates real websites directly: DoorDash, Etsy, Reddit, Yelp, Outlook. It also taps your Instagram and Facebook social data, and a parallel Instagram shopping agent targeting Q4 will buy things you see in Reels. That one is aimed squarely at TikTok Shop.
The awkward part
Hatch currently runs on Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 — not Llama. Meta says its own Muse Spark model takes over at launch. Until then, Meta’s flagship consumer agent is a $200 wrapper around a rival’s model. That’s the tell: in agents, model quality beats vertical integration, even at Meta.
