Anthropic makes Claude Code’s 25% higher weekly limits permanent — but check the math on September 14

Anthropic is permanently raising Claude Code’s weekly usage limits by 25% starting September 14, for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans. Claude Code is Anthropic’s terminal coding agent — you describe what you want, it edits files and runs commands — and weekly limits are the single most complained-about thing among heavy users. So a permanent raise sounds like the best news possible.

The math nobody likes

Here’s the catch. Since May 2026, everyone has been running on a temporary 50% boost that Anthropic kept extending month after month. That boost dies September 14. The “permanent 25%” is measured against the old baseline: 100 units → 150 today → 125 after. Anthropic’s own account admitted it: compared to today, that’s a 17% cut.

Why now

Anthropic just posted $10.9B Q2 revenue and its first operating profit, $559M. Rolling a subsidy forward every month was an IOU; baking part of it into the baseline is the honest version — smaller than the promo, but no expiration date. Claude Code also shipped restricted mode, cross-session messaging, and Enterprise usage credits the same week. For anyone hitting the cap, though, this is the number that matters.
