Gmail Live, Docs Live, Keep Live: Google puts Gemini voice inside its billion-user apps

Voice AI demos are everywhere. Google just skipped the demo phase and shipped it into Gmail.

This week three “Live” features hit general availability: Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live — all voice agents built on Gemini Audio models, first shown at I/O 2026.

What each one actually does

Gmail Live lets you talk to your inbox: ask what’s in that thread from last week, fire follow-up questions without repeating context, interrupt mid-answer to change topics. There’s a new Live icon in the search bar, and transcripts link back to source emails.

Docs Live is a co-writer — you talk, it drafts structured documents, and with permission it pulls context from Gmail, Drive, Chat, and the web. Keep Live turns rambling voice notes into organized lists and action items.

Why this matters

This is the first time Gemini Live voice runs inside real productivity surfaces, not a standalone chat app. Gmail alone has over a billion users; that’s the largest distribution any voice agent has ever had.

Availability: Gmail Live and Keep Live for AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers; Docs Live is Pro and Ultra only. English worldwide, Android and iOS — except Keep Live, Android only. Workspace business accounts: coming soon.
