Most robot mops give up on dried ketchup and high-traffic spills. xLean’s fix: yank the cleaning unit off the dock and hand-wash the stain yourself. Snap it back, it patrols the floor again.
The hardware
xLean TR1 dual-form floor-washing robot is exactly that — a floor-mopping robot that flips into a handheld washer in about a second. Two 400 rpm roller mops, a 360° LiDAR scanning over 5,000 points per second, and an RGB-D camera generating 44,640 3D sensing points per frame for obstacle dodging. xLean Robotics is calling it the first dual-form mechanical design in the category. Already grabbed the 2026 IDEA Design Award and Red Dot Product Design Award before launch.
Why it’s trending now
Kickstarter went live April 21 with 10,000+ pre-launch followers and 2,000+ core community members — the most-watched Technology campaign on the platform this year. r/robotvacuums and maker Twitter are treating the transformable form factor as the freshest hardware angle in an otherwise stagnant category.
Pledge price starts at $899, around 47% off future retail. Shipping September 2026. xLean is also pitching a Family Agent Robot concept — an embodied AI layer meant to bolt new household skills onto the same hardware over time. That part is roadmap, not what’s in the box on day one.
