DJI announced Osmo Pocket 4 on April 16, shipping started April 22. Same palm-sized 3-axis gimbal camera you hold like a pen. Everything inside got upgraded.
The hardware jump
1-inch CMOS, f/2.0, 14 stops of dynamic range, 10-bit D-Log, 4K up to 240fps, 2x lossless zoom. Rotating screen, 5D joystick, dedicated zoom and preset buttons, plus a four-mic OsmoAudio array doing 360° capture. The gap from Pocket 3 isn’t incremental — this is mirrorless low-light territory in your pocket. DroneDJ called it the headliner of DJI’s “four launches in two weeks” run.
ActiveTrack 7.0 is the real story
Pocket 3’s tracker lost subjects in crowds and fast direction changes. 7.0 holds lock through occlusion, busy streets, and erratic motion. Creators are calling it the best AI subject tracking at this price point, full stop.
Yes, agents can drive it
DJI Mobile SDK v5 and the Osmo Action SDK are open. Over USB or BLE your code commands the gimbal, camera, recording state, and ActiveTrack directly. People are already wiring Pocket into autonomous patrol rigs, robot-arm cinematography, and event-triggered tracking pipelines. Point an agent at a target ID and let the Pocket follow it. For a pocket camera, that’s unusual.
