Juggler turns your AI coding agent into a tree you can inspect, branch, and edit

Julian Storer spent 30 years building audio tools — JUCE, the Tracktion DAW, the Cmajor DSP language. Now he’s shipped Juggler, an open-source desktop coding agent, and it hit the Hacker News front page on launch with nearly 200 points.

Not another CLI

Most coding agents are a terminal spewing text. Juggler is a real GUI. Every tool call is a thing you can click open and inspect. The conversation isn’t a linear scroll — it’s a tree, and any node can fork into a sub-thread so you can backtrack, compare, and try two directions at once. Tool calls, approvals, and raw context sit in Finder-style Miller columns instead of drowning in collapsible chat. You can edit the context directly.

Why it matters

The pitch is trust. If you don’t buy the black box, Juggler shows you exactly what the LLM is doing to your code, move by move. Context items, loop strategies, and slash commands are all JavaScript plugins you can fork or replace. Runs local, remote, or hybrid, and connects to different LLMs. Coming from the guy who built tooling audio pros lived in for decades, the UX opinions are earned.
