Google unveiled Gemini Spark at I/O 2026, and it’s not another chatbot. Spark is a personal AI agent living inside the Gemini app that keeps working around the clock — on Google Cloud, so your device doesn’t need to stay on. You can email it at a dedicated Gmail address like a coworker, and it pulls context straight from Gmail, Docs, and Workspace without setup. Add Live-in-chat voice and it holds a real-time conversation while it runs tasks in the background.
What it actually does
The sharp part is the local business-calling: Spark places AI phone calls to real US shops — pet groomers, mechanics — checks pricing and availability, then texts you a clean summary. Built on Gemini 3.5 Flash, wired to 30+ third-party tools through MCP (Uber, Dropbox, Adobe).
Why it matters
This is Google pushing Gemini from answer-machine to standing assistant that does things. Rolling out to AI Ultra ($100/month) testers in the US, with an Android Halo live-updates surface coming later this year.
